Vecinos del Bosque Neighborhood Association Meeting
October 25, 2007
Meeting Minutes
1. Welcome
2. Approval of Agenda
3. Approval of 9/27/07 Minutes
4. Treasurer’s Report
5. Valle del Bosque Park
* Irma and Stephen reported on meeting with County
o Discussed gate opening and closing. County doesn’t have enough staff to open and close the gate. Hope to add signs that inform visitors that the park is open even if the gate is closed.
* Irma encouraged the group to attending future park management meetings in order to create and sustain momentum.
* Irma will send out email to choose a date to go on field trip to see holding ponds in other parks (including Sanchez Farms, School on Wheels, and on South Isleta).
o Suggested dates and times: Lunch on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday week of November 12.
6. Subcommittees
* Need to get subcommittees set up, committed to, and chaired reliably.
* Reports from the subcommittee meetings would be brought to the monthly neighborhood association meeting, and those reports would naturally turn into a newsletter.
* Need to target two or three real projects that we can handle.
* Board retreat is the time to identify those key things we want to take on.
7. Acequia of Lights
* Planning meeting will be held Monday Nov 5th, 6:30 pm
* Event is on Saturday, December 8th, 5:30 to 8:30
8. Spring Neighborhood Gathering - Tabled until next meeting
9. The Albuquerque Partnership
o Adrian was not available, but the group discussed plans for the Board Retreat:
+ Board Retreat Preparation
# Need to prioritize the issues that we want to discuss at the Board Retreat, and then identify the history of this issue in order to show what has already been invested in the project.
# Need to bring to the retreat a summary, history, of projects that we’ve been working on.
* One project is Atrisco Road – Senator Bernadette Sanchez is working on getting sidewalks from Hooper to Central.
+ Wednesday, November 14th works for attendees. Irma will double check with Adrian for his availability
10. Other Business Updates
1. Weed & Seed funding
No funding because we missed the Weed and seed budget meeting, but there is a possibility to get a grant if we go to the January weekend.
2. Holiday Gathering
* Will be at the Molecke’s house (Gonzales and Mae)
* Sunday, January 20th at 4:00
* Will be catered and guests will pay to cover costs – Steven will arrange catering.
3. Update on WCCDG and Meeting Dates
1. Met recently with Pro’s Ranch Market
1. Liquor license is very expensive in NM compared to other states, may be scaring them away from getting license at all.
2. Vecinos del Bosque advocated against individual liquor bottles from being sold.
4. South Valley Coalition of Neighborhood Associations
o Gary had nothing to report; had a conflicting meeting.
o Greg is available to begin attending the meetings again.
5. Sunset Road Update
o Continuing to discuss reducing speed on Sunset from Central to Bridge. Irma was supposed to receive a report from the meeting, but has not yet received it.
o Discussed roundabout at Osage instead of the strange concrete barriers there now.
o Need to discuss this issue at the Board Retreat.
